La historia aparece ya en el joven Gramsci como un sistema
de fuerzas en equilibrio inestable, que luchan para colocarse del lado de
la historia, para identificarse con ella. Por esta razón, en su lectura del
marxismo, la unidad de la historia es un resultado, el producto de una
estrategia exitosa de construcción de una hegemonía. En este artículo
se recorre la teoría gramsciana de la hegemonía y se intenta mostrar
su coherencia con la filosofía de la praxis, es decir, con la noción
que señala el carácter fundamentalmente práctico de la realidad. En
concreto, se argumenta que, por un lado, una crisis de hegemonía
equivale a la disgregación (y no al vaciado) de un sistema hegemónico,
lo que permite aflorar a momentos hegemónicos subordinados y,
por otro lado, se sostiene que la misma crisis está determinada por
la formulación de discursos hegemónicos que intentan escapar a su
condición de subordinación.
History appears already to the young Gramsci as a system of
forces in unstable balance, which struggle to position themselves on the side
of history, to identify with it. For this reason, in his reading of Marxism, the
unity of history is a result, the product of a successful strategy of hegemony
building. This article reviews the Gramscian theory of hegemony and
tries to show its coherence with the philosophy of praxis, that is, with the
notion of the fundamentally practical nature of reality. In particular, it
is argued that, on the one hand, a crisis of hegemony must be understood
as disintegrating (and not emptying) a hegemonic system, which allows
subordinated hegemonic moments to emerge; on the other hand, the crisis
itself is determined by the formulation of hegemonic discourses that try to
escape their condition of subordination.
