Kultura i moc [Culture and Power]

«In contrast to formal-objective approaches to culture & power in sociology, problem-analytical studies are sensitive to changes in dominant ideas. Based on Neil J. Smelser's (1994) studies of new approaches to culture, three trends are defined: sociological, socioanthropological, & sociopolitical, with the last dominating since the 1970s. The emphasis of the relationship between culture & power characterizes the works of Antonio Gramsci on hegemony, Pierre Bourdieu on cultural capital, the British school of cultural studies, & Michel Foucault. While overcoming the traditional definitions of political power & essential notions of culture, these studies focus on the sphere of mass communication systems».
