Regarding Gramsci, the work contains essays previously published in Critica marxista: «Il concetto di egemonia» (1967);«Machiavelli e Gramsci» (1969); «Lenin e il concetto di egemonia» (1970); «Sullo "storicismo marxista"» (1971); «Note sul dibattito teorico...» (1974).«Among other things, Gruppi emphasizes Gramsci's "absolute historicism" and historicism as a specific philosophy of the PCI. He also deals with the Leninist derivation of the concept of hegemony in which Gramsci would emphasize the element of consensus as compared to Lenin privileging that of force» (M.B.).
