At the end of February, 1997, the Minister for Public Instruction and the University, Luigi Berlinguer (cousin of the former General Secretary of the Pci, Enrico) sent a ministerial circular to schools, urging them to include, for older students "reflections on the figure of Antonio Gramsci in this the 60th anniversary of his death." This article is part of the ensuing controversy.
