In the Cell with Gramsci: A Reconsideration of Gustavo Trombetti's Testimonies
This article considers some episodes in Gramsci's biography on which new information has been collected in the last decade. In illustrating those episodes, we will also refer to hitherto unknown manuscripts by Gustavo Trombetti, who shared a cell with Gramsci for nine months, and reassess the whole of his testimonies. Trombetti's testimonies remain extremely important even though we now understand that in some cases they contain minor factual errors.
