The main conclusion that Antonio Gramsci reached after studying the historical period in which the Italian modern state and the Italian nation were formed, was that the Risorgimento failed. The author aim in this study is to shortly describe the fundamental elements of the Gramscian theory through which has been interpreted the Risorgimento phenomenon.
