Gramsci´s concept of hegemony is of great worth to redo democracy. Democracy is also to meditate from social practices, it is to take part in the task of making philosophy socially responsible. That is Gramsci´s reason for putting an end to the division between leaders and leaded. To recover Gramsci´s concept of hegemony can be the basis of a constituent process that presents reliable alternatives for the left in this century; mainly if we consider democracy a process open to specific practices and to civic deliberation, as a synergy able to turn domination relationships into selfgovernment forms, that is, into power for citizenship.
