"With the collapse of several important fish stocks in recent decades, fisheries have witnessed the limits to productionist strategies of exploitation & require a more sustainable basis for their future development. Using theoretical constructs drawn from Antonio Gramsci (1971) & Pierre Bourdieu (1981, 1990), empirical data on Norwegian fisheries, 1945-1990, are examined for evidence of sustainable development"
